Samurai Sword is a game based on the proven Bang! mechanisms and set in feudal Japan. In this game, the familiar features of Bang! are enhanced by more dynamic and fast-paced game play, and thanks to a new scoring system - based on honor points and resilience points - there is no player elimination. Everybody gets to fight to the very end! Also, weapons and attacks are fused into a single card.

Players are dealt cards with secret roles. The shogun, who must show his card, tries to win with his samurai. The ninjas, dressed as samurai, try to win together. Ronin tries to win herself. To give the game extra variety, players are also assigned a character that has a unique ability.

The players try to defeat each other to get Honor. The degree of difficulty of a attack is determined by how far apart you are. It's easy to attack your neighbor, but difficult to attack someone sitting a few chairs away. A player who loses all resilience is defeated and must give Honor to his the player that deated him. If a player runs out of honor, or if all but one player runs out of resilience, the game ends and the secret roles are revealed. The team that now has the most honor wins.
