It also introduces ancient Crocodiles with the new Specimen type of Crurotarsi. New mechanics like Focus Boards, Bone Beds and new Milestones add even more options that can be used with Europe or with North America.

Focus Boards give each player unique starting bonuses as well as small goals that can be completed during the game for instant rewards and extra Victory Points at the end of the game.

Bone Beds are a new type of card that can be gained via Field Expedition cards. They allow players to return to a location they discovered to extract a guaranteed type and amount of fossils on a later turn.

New Milestones are added that can be used with any version of Holotype.
